New Poetry Of Resilience Webinar!

New Poetry of Resilience Webinar!

In this six-week webinar, Danusha Laméris and I will look at poetry as a tool for living a better life, a practice of seeing. We’ll read poems, discuss craft and technique with some of their, (and all of our!), favorite poets. They will also talk about writing as ritual, as mindfulness practice. A way to center on gratitude and hope, and as a cornerstone of resilience during these difficult and trying times. Open to poets and poetry lovers, alike!

Guest poets will include some of the best writers at work today, including Carolyn Forché, Michael Kleber-Diggs, Maggie Smith, Angela Narciso-Torres, Kim Stafford, and Laure-Anne Bosselaar.

Each session will begin with a talk with that week’s featured poet, followed by a discussion with Danusha and James, who will read poems, offer gateways into accessing your own creative treasure troves, and share accompanying prompts. For the last half hour of each class, they will answer questions from participants, and give further insights into the practice of poetry.

Live sessions will be held on Fridays from 10am-12pm PST / 1-3pm EST.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Friday, 9/3 Carolyn Forché
  • Friday, 9/10 Michael Kleber-Diggs
  • Friday, 9/17 Maggie Smith
  • Friday, 9/24 Angela Narciso-Torres
  • Friday, 10/1 Kim Stafford
  • Friday, 10/8 Laure-Anne Bosselaar

Before each session, a document with the poems and prompts that will be shared and discussed, will be provided to participants.

The series will be presented on Zoom Webinar. Video and audio recordings will be available to all participants within 48 hours of each session, and for one month after the course ends.

The cost of the course is $300.
